This was the biggest town we came to, after Newcastle, and reminded me a bit of Bondi. We checked into the Big4 campsite which is centrally located. The receptionist told us that she wasn't going to put us next to the break wall as last night there was storm and the waves were coming over the top of the wall and flooding some of the caravans and tents that were near it. The Sundowner Breakwall Campsite wasn't the cleanest we've stayed in the. The amenities block I used was in need of a bit of TLC and there was a bit of graffiti adorning the walls and doors advertising some personal services???? There's a lot for the kids to do here with a BMX track, beachs, video games etc.

A couple that we have been bumping into on the way up the East Coast (who're camping) said that the weather was too rough for their tent. As a result of that they checked into the Aussie Possie backpackers hostel for the night. They told us it wasn't very nice when we met up with them and didn't stay around the next day opting to push on up the coast.

The place is really good if you're into surfing and there was a lot of guys out there on the waves.

We did the walk along the break wall which was a bit interesting as a lot of visitors and locals have graffited the huge break stones with with personal messages. All along the wall there are people fishing off the rocks with a few stubbies to keep them company.

Surfing and fishing seem to the main attractions in town. We didn't do that much here and only spent the one night. The time we spent here we used to update our blogs and read/reply to all our emails. The place is really good if you're into surfing and there was a lot of guys out there on the waves. It was good to, kind of, get back to civilization for a while but we were glad to get going again.
