If there were a place for us to recommend for others to visit in Argentina, it would definitely be this one!!! Most people have never heard of this park nor the little town of Pellegrini, so this never becomes part of peoples`itinerary. We had read about it prior to going on our trip and had discovered that it was very similar to Brazil`s pantanal (just as beautiful, but much smaller) only much easier to get to and less costly. So, needless to say we were very excited to get away from the big cities and immerse ourselves in the wilderness! Here we met Valeria, from Buenos Aires, who made our stay that much more fun! We stayed at the most amazing hotel (all by chance....the owner saw us walking around Mercedes and in order to lure us into staying at his hotel, offered a private room with it`s own bathroom for very cheap!). Getting to and getting out of Pellegrini is a challenge, however, since they only have one bus going there in the morning and one coming back in the afternoon. Except that these buses do not work on Sundays, and if it rains, tough luck as well. There are only 130km between Mercedes and Pellegrini, but it is a dirt road and it takes approximately 5 to 6 hours to get through it....that alone is an adventure! Really though, what a gorgeous place, almost like a dream.
