Greetings from the Egadi Islands. Each one is a separate day trip via fast hydrofoil from Trapani.

Favignana Island - The summer playground for Italians. We rented bikes and rode around the Island in about 6 hours, including stopping for pictures (what a surprise) and swimming off various cliffs and beaches. Our favorite rock cliff beach Cala Rossa, cut out of the mountain was named after a battle of 241 BC. The architecture here looks like that of Santa Fe.

Levanzo Island - We spent the day hiking the island and visited the prehistoric cave paintings in the Grotto Del Genovese. The Paleolithic drawings and Neolithic pictures are said to be between 6000 and 10,000 years old. (boy would I like a piece of the rock! ) The architecture here is that of white stucco homes, blue doors and trim as you would see in Greece. The Mediterranean sea was very warm and a beautiful turquoise sea.

Marettimo Island - Marettimo Island has a spectacular fragmented coastline with rocky coves and caves sheltering hide away beaches. It has an abundance of Caves along the coast line. We rented a boat to go into the caves and swam in the spectacular clear water. Its such a delight to be able to see your feet in Crystal clear water. Of course at my age its exciting to be able to see my feet on land as well. LOL Most of the spectacular beaches are inaccessible except by boat. Its houses are little cubes with blue shutters and painted tiles. Geographically its the most remote Island from Trapani, about 1.5 hours by hydrofoil. On a clear day you can see the tip of Africa ! We loved the Egadi Islands, would recommend them and all three had a different flavor, topography and soul about them. Please enjoy some pictures
