Nostalgia

From the time I entered South Florida it reminded me of my native land aka Guyana. Palm trees, agreeable weather (oddly enough I don't feel uncomfortably hot, though I did perspire inexorably), and populace that move in slow motion. Except for the bartenders, everyone seems to take their precious time to do everything.

You know how I feel about music (anything to stupid to be said is sung), but I soften up on this stance when it be fitting. On the drive I listened to two of my favourite genres on the radio: country and reggae (pre Shaggy). Maybe it's because my dad listened to these, but to me they are not so dissimilar as often they both have meaningful lyrics. That old country stuff can really put a guy in a poignant state though.

Occasionally I'd enjoy some of the latest that rhythm and blues has to offer, then I realize why I find them more suitable for the proletariat. Here's a sampling of a love song from a guy who wants to thank a girl for an excellent date by chorusing, "last night I was inside of you". And I think 50 Cent reaches out to all the online daters with his shout out, "Hey you, I'm tired of technology. Why don't you sit down on top of me?" Clubbing

In Miami I went bar hopping with a couple of Argentinean girls until one of them couldn't get into an over 21 club, so I continued without them because I wanted to dance and have a good time in the time I have. Beaching

Well all the beaches are practically the same. Sand, water and burnt flesh. I made it to a nude beach in Miami. Lots of younger folks. I spent a good portion of my time there talking with a 24 year old Costa Rican Engineer. I was surprised to discover that many native Costa Ricans have blue eyes.
