Cowboy City
From Cowboy City in Calgary, Canada on Nov 03 '02
Fiona and I met our friend Racheal In Calgary for a few days, Was great seeing after so many years(Old Aberdeen buddies). Spent a day wandering around Calgary, not one of the most excitign vities i've been to- still interesting all the same. I cannot believe how flat Alberta is- total Praire land! There is only 1 hill in Calgary and when you go up it you can see for miles, in fact all the way to the Great Rockies in the distance.
Also visted the Winter Olympic ski prak which was pretty cool. Watched some nutters go down the lyge trcak head 1st ( skeleton!) Brave gusy if you ask me! Then we went up on of the ski jump towers which was freaky. I am not afraid of heights but seeing the grandstand below and how far it was to land make me wanna grab a parachute!
Praire Land
Spent a day in the Rockies too, wow another amazing site! Because it was November the Rockies were snowed capped which was lovely. Travelled up to Lake Louise(which was friozen solid), stopping many time for pictures, Snap happy PG!!!! Went as far as Banff. It reminds me of Aviemore in Scotland, a cute wee town. Pretty commercilised for the skiing season.
Spent the last day going to see an ice hockey game at the Olympic Saddledome- what a funky looking building. I really enjoy ice hockey games. I was lucky to get to a Maple Leaf game in Toronto too which i thought was ace. Love all the music and fast action.
