From Majorca..Last of the Sunshine.. in Palma, Spain on Oct 29 '06

Off to Majorca for 24 hour business trip. For a place with so many flights going in and out Majorca is remarkably difficult to get in and out of in a day from a work perspective.
No matter..gives a bit of time for a fragment of a round of golf. After leaving London in gloom and cold we arrive to glorious sun and 27 degrees C in Palma. Palma airport looks as though it has actually been made for stampeding elephants to board a plane rather than humans. The distances between gates and terminal are Odyssian, the width of the thoroughfares remind me of the LA freeway and yet it is all strangely quiet.
I like Majorca. It has the feel of a mature community rather than the work in progress vibe that denotes so much of coastal Spain. I also like the fact its only 2 hours away. For some reason the added 30 minutes for flights to the Costas makes the journey feel inordinately longer.
After a great game which we played until the light forced us to can it we retired for a quick beer. My driving remains as accurate as an innebriate parrot playing darts. Had dinner at the wonderfully impossible to locate Reads the location of which must be a national secret because for such a great place there were very few people. Got a chance to sample some top notch Mallorcan wine also.
Worked all the next morning and then headed to the airport and home. I remember turning my face to the sun as I boarded the plane thinking...thats the last of that for a while..and sure enough we landed in London where the ground temeperature was 5 degrees.
