Quito is a lovely city especially at the weekends when the traffic eases off and parks fill up. On Sundays the main thoroughfares become cycle friendly and loads of Ecuadorians take up the opportunity to get out and exercise on their bikes.

The old town is really pretty and great for people watching. There is a fascinating mix of attire on display!

We went to the "Mitad del Mundo" tourist town on the Equator to take pictures and not much else. Were hoping to see some nifty scientific tricks reported in the Lonely Planet, but perhaps they don´t do them on a Monday!?
