Halong Bay is magnificient with over 3000 islands rising from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. We spent two days on our boat cruising through the limestone karsts and soaking up the scenery. During the days running up to our trip the weather in Halong Bay had been awful, the girls and I were prepared to wear our purple ponchos! Luckily the sun shone for the two days and it only started raining on our journey back to Hanoi.
Halong Bay's islands hold caves of all sizes and shapes. The grotto we visited had been lit up with multi coloured lights, the stalactites and stalagmites were beautiful.

The hightlights of the trip were kayaking through the tunnels under the islands, swimming in the crystal waters and watching the sun set over the limestone karsts.
