Canberra wasn't all is was made out to be... in fact, if it weren't fot the buskers festival, it would have been really borning! So I got into my little car and drove the 600+ km to Mebourne in one day, not being able to bear staying in any of the little towns along the way... where most of the hotels smelled like mould! But as it turned out, it was worth it to push on to Melbourne, which isn't an easy place to navigate around when you're both the navigator and the driver, but after about a half an hour, I finally found the hostel i wanted to stay at.... The Bakpak hotel. Not a bad place - it has a great location right around the corner from the Queen Victoria market, which during the summer on Wednesday (lucky me) there is a MASSIVE market full of imported goods from Asia, global foods ready to eat, performers, massagers (obviously I indulged in a little Shiatsu!) and just about all the shopping you can afford to do on a travelers budget!

I had a wonderful night of listening to live music - from raggae to Djume groups playing live and for free! I met this girl called Lauren at the Market - a nice kid who's traveling the opposite direction to me, but none the less has been fantastic company thus far. We say goodbuy to each other today, as I prepare to drive down to the Great Ocean road - which should have some spectacular views and beaches.

Leonard its AJ here - following your trip from Cheshire. Your travel journal and pics are absolutely fascinating, bringing the delights of OZ to us all in damp UK. Keep them rolling. Agree with Brother Sal about the orchid and apostles pics.

After re-reading this informative blog, it hit me - what is the accomodation going to be like in the smalle villages of Thailand and rest of south east Asia?
