Hello All!  Arrived in Amsterdam today at around 3:30pm.  What a night of traveling!  Took the overnight flight from New York at 10:00pm, changed planes in London this morning and arrived into Amsterdam right around 2pm.

Transportation from Schipol International Airport is a breeze.  Just go to the train ticket counter and they will tell you everything you need to know.  Arriving into Centraal Station, you can hop on any of the Metro or Tram lines to your hotel, they all seem to begin from this point.

We feel lucky that right on our first night there was this gigantic rally in Leidseplein square (just a couple of blocks from our hotel). The locals were celebrating the home soccer (futbol) team's championship victory.  We later learned it was their first championship in many years and boy were they celebrating.  Unfortunately, we got to the square after the police (in full riot gear) had barricaded all the entrance points to the square.  We could only look in from afar, but it was really loud.  And worse, our camera battery died right when we got there, so we were only able to take one picture.

Well we are having a blast so far!
