We feel like we have spent way too much time on aeroplanes in the last week or so...but it was worth it to fly to Iguazu for a couple of days. The heat was stifling...and this is not as hot as it gets in real summer, but the falls are so powerful and dramatic. The whole National Park is set up brilliantly. Great infrastructure, walking paths and boardwalks and interesting activities.

We opted for the full day options which gave you a 12 minute speedboat ride under two falls. In the heat of the day that was so fantastic. You got completely and utterly drenched and it was great fun. Fortunately they provide you with a waterproof bag for your camera, backpack etc.

We ended our day of walks all aound the park and too many vantage points above, below and beside the falls to count, with a canoe ride back along the river where we came face to face with a cayman (alligator like). That was a bit scary in a rubber inflatable raft, but fortunately when we left him alone he left us alone.

We had a great dinner out in Port Iguazu at Victoria restaurant. The best mushroom risotto Ive ever had plus a great gazpacho!

Staying at the Orquideas was good -they have 2 bedroom cabanas which were very comfortable and a nice big pool which was essential. The Sheraton is in a great location in the Park, but not worth the several hundreds of US dollars per night, in our opinion.

On our return to Buenos Aires, we spent a night at the Tribeca Apartment hotel. We had a huge quad room, in a really buzzy location in the city, plus a great gourmet breakfast, which we had to gulp down for the next flight. This place is a real hidden gem...and we wished we had longer there. Very stylish and again great value.
