Quiet time

We caught a train to Taunton today. Luckly, we were able to get the direct train from Edinbugh to Taunton, not through London, as that would have taken us over 11 hours. As it was, it took about 9.5 hours to get to Somerset, where I had a friend that I'd met in Thailand. He had invited us to visit. Billy lives at a resort camp and he'd secured us the use of a cabin for a few days. It was fantastic, a view of the ocean, and nothing to hear but the chirp of birds...and the giggles of the transvestites. Yup, it was drag week at camp and the whole place was roaming with guys in skirts. Even more than we'd seen in Scotland.
We went to the bar after arriving and met Billy's g/f Sarah, who's working there. And, since it was nice out, we watched the sun set on the beach. Billy claims that the best sunsets in the world are here, and he may be right. I can see the potential, though tonight's wasn't fantastic. Maybe tomorrow.

We did nothing. It rained all day, so we hid out inside and relaxed, wrote and tried to read (more Dr. Zhivago).

Sarah took us in to the local town for a tour of the area. We visited the Wichart Musuem (all one room of it) and chatted with the nice old voluneer who was working. All of the old, small local museums seem to come with an old guy who loves to chat.
We tried to find food, but it was mid afternoon and everything was closed, so we returned to the camp where we were sure to find something in the restaurant.
In the evening, it was Elvis night at the camp bar. Yup, we watched an Elvis impersonator in a room full of guys dress as women. A lot of them had nicer legs than I do. And I got chastised for not dressing up like "real" women do. Hmmmm.
