Update #2
From The U S of A in Las Vegas, United States on Mar 30 '05
Hello to all, As I write this we are traveling back from Vegas to LA for a brief stop before we hit New York City! I can’t wait. Well the wedding was sensational. We all had a blast! The bride and groom both looked like foxes, I was looking pretty hot myself. (I have attached a couple of photos for your perusal). I’ll do the update in chronological order from where I left off last time. When I last wrote we were waiting for Marty and Josh to arrive. They got to LA around 11pm and we had a quick drink and catch up and then hit the sack. We woke up the next morning hired our Ford Explorer family van (mostly because that was going to be the only thing that would fit all my bags!) and then headed back to Hollywood for a couple more happy snaps, some lunch and then it was on the road to Big Bear in the San Bernardino valley. The road up the mountain was a windy one (Lex and Jane – much like Falls but higher). We reached 7000 feet quite quickly and that combined with the windy road, jet lag and general uneasiness about what the hell I was doing with my life, made me feel a bit car sick! Before you all start yelling, the uneasiness has now gone and I am certain about the move to the UK. We got to Big Bear around 4.30pm and checked into our hotel. The fun thing was we were all sharing a room! Then we headed downtown for a look and a drink and some dinner. It was freezing. After dinner we hit the sack and tried to get a good night’s sleep before we hit the big lights of Vegas. We checked out around midday and then headed to Vegas. It took us around 2 hours to get there. We checked into the hotel and then wandered around the casino. I must admit it was all a bit overwhelming for me. I had been before and didn’t remember it being so big and bold. It took me a couple of days to get my head around being in Vegas. We met up with the remainder of our party around 7pm in a bar in the Monte Carlo hotel! Smashed back quite a few beers and then decided it would be a good idea to eat something. Had some dinner and then all crashed around midnight. Woke up the next day and I was feeling quite good. I was Monday and we were one day away from the wedding. Decided to do a bit of shopping so we headed to one of the factory outlets in town. Was ok, bought some pants but that was about it. Mark and the girls made some purchases. Monday night was dinner and a show! We were booked in to see Zumanity – the Adults only Cirque du Soleil. We were hoping to do the Bellagio buffet for dinner, but oh mi god the queue was horrific. So we went to a fantastic steak house in New York New York. Josh’s steak without a word of a lie was half a cow! It was huge! I have never seen anything like it. The show was outrageous. Lots of flesh in twisting poses. We all loved it! We headed home after the show for a good night’s sleep, as tomorrow is the big day. Woke up at 8am to take Shell to The Luxor where Jacki and Mark were staying and bring Mark back to the Aladdin where the boys were staying. Mark and I went and had some breakky and then met up with Marty and Josh for a spot of gambling before the big moment. Went and bought some grog for the limo ride after and then got ready. Once we were all looking hot we then headed to the chapel for the ceremony. The ceremony itself was lovely and within 15 minutes the minister announced the arrival of Mr and Mrs Mark and Jacki James (yes we know it sounds like a 70’s cop show name). Then there were chapel photos and then we jumped in the limo and headed down the strip for 2 hours of official photos. After that it was off to the Venetian for cocktails and a seafood dinner! Everything was grouse except for the dumb barman at the Venetian who didn’t know how to make Caprioskas! Josh proceeded to help him out, only to use all their sugar! Anyhoo, dinner was lovely. We then headed off to Studio 54 at the MGM Grand for dancing. We all had a ball dancing to a mix of 70’s and 80’s classics. Jacki was even air guitaring at one point! After that it was bed time. We all had a great time and everyone looked great! We woke up Wednesday morning after a big sleep in and had some breakfast at the Aladdin buffet. Marty and Josh then went for a walk on the strip, Shell, Jacki, Mark and Mumsie went to the premium factory outlet and I went to the Fashion Show Mall where I bought a pair of Diesel Jeans and 3 pairs of undies (2 Calvin and 1 2xist). Then we all caught up again for nibbles and Caprioskas in Marty and Josh’s room and then we went our separate ways to get ready for our last night in Vegas. Jacki and Mark came back and joined us at the Aladdin for drinks and gambling. Shell, Marty and Josh played the slots (with some luck) and me Jacki and Mark went to the Roulette table. We all won and proceeded to get smashed as they serve you free drinks when you play at the casinos! At around midnight, the slot players left us for bed and then we headed to the Luxor to go to the highly recommended night club Ra. The music was awful and the sound system ordinary. We stayed for a drink and then it was around 2ish (it’s a long walk between casinos). Jacki and Mark went to bed and then I jumped in a cab back to the Aladdin, via the gay district! Well without going into detail, I got back to the hotel at 5.30 after a lot of fun with an Alaskan boy named Travis! (Yes Jane Alaskan!) Nuff said! And now we are heading back to LA. New York beckons. Another update will be sent when I get a chance. Missing you all but having a blast!
