Cold, wet, cold, rainy, cold. The city itself is very pretty but the weather here is awful. Denmark is Scandanavian...about a stones throw from the Arctic Circle. Because of this, it gets dark at 3:30pm in the winter...which means that everything shuts down at 3pm and there is nothing to do all day but drink or play on the Internet. Due to the exorbitant price of alcohol in this city, we have chosen he latter. All is not wasted though... the train ride here was enough to justify the waste of time and money.

It started out crappy...I had run to get breakfast and made it back in time just to see the train pulling away.  David had pretty muched begged me to go get breakfast so the blame was certainly on equal shoulders, although it destroyed every fiber of his soul not boarding that train. The conductors on the platform got us on another train that was 2 minutes faster to Dortmond (another city in Germany) so we jumped off one train and managed to get back on the train we had missed an hour and a half earlier!  Success!

That proved to be more important than we had realized. We made our connection in Hamburg for Copenhagen and sat next to a very friendly British man. By the end of the train trip we had gotten to be friends with him and learned that he was actually a world famous opera director named Keith Warner. He was on his way to Copenhagen to direct a new version of Don Giovanni in their national theater. He took out the outline book and let us tape him giving us a description of the show! Very exciting. And get this! He's a huge Liberal (he lived in America for 3 years). We talked politics most of the time and had a blast. But, and this is a huge but, here's the kicker. When we were leaving he gave us his cell phone and email address so we could contact him and he's going to sneek us into a rehersal on Thursday! We were both very excited. Another really cool part of the trip was crossing the Baltic Sea on a huge ferry (like David, only spelled differently). They actually drove the train we were riding on into the cargo section of the ferry and took us from Germany to Denmark. It was so cold and the wind was blowing hard enough to knock me over....and the waves were upwards of 10 feet! We both got a little green but survived. The journey here was worth every minute of snooty Danes and crappy weather. We have actually decided to leave in the morning due to this combo. Prague here we come!!!
