Firstly, sorry for being so slack in posting a blog! There hasn't been much spare time here, and I also had an unfortunate incident with a kebab that I will explain later...

Ursula and I arrived at Heathrow on Saturday night and were greeted by our friends Monica and Elysia at the gates. I then had my first experience on the Tube. A little confusing at first, but it is definitely more efficient than the trains in Sydney! I bought an Oyster pass, a weekly ticket that set me back £24... about AUD$65... eek! I am trying not to convert everything back into Australian dollars but it is hard. Our hotel is the size of a shoebox and very basic, and it is setting us back about $1500 for a week. Its very conveniently situated in Paddington though so it does have one plus.

One thing is certain - I am never having a kebab again!

The next day was Easter Sunday. Monica was very keen to take us out for a traditional Sunday roast, so we went to a pub in Angel to celebrate Easter. It was definitely really good! It included roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and lots of roast vegies. That night, we experienced some more English pubs in the area. Pubs here have a great atmosphere and the ones we went to were all quite old.

Things took a turn for the worst however when Ursh, Elysia and I decided to buy a kebab. The place didn't look dodgy, but the next day I spent all day in bed sick with what I think was food poisoning. Unfortunately I missed a day of shopping in Oxford St, but I'm sure I'll make it back there soon. One thing is certain - I am never having a kebab again!

The yummy kebab shop in Crows Nest must have given you a false sense of security - sounds like you learnt your lession the hard way :(
