There isn't a lot to do in Singapore except shop and eat, most of the shops are located along Orchard road. The first day we walked there and had a very tiring day among the shops and only managed to scratch the surface. Tired already of the shopping malls, the second day we only did a little bit of shopping but instead explored Chinatown, and met a poet who was the son of a famous photographer, we very much liked his work and we later viewed his exhibition displayed at the library. In the evening we caught the bus to the night safari the idea being to see the nocturnal animals upclose, rather than in a daytime zoo when they are normally hidden away and asleep. Our last full day in Singapore we had wanted to walk along the river and visit the largest fountain in the world. Unfortunately the later was closed for renovations and we were frustrated to find that you can't even cross a road in Singapore without going through a shopping mall, which makes getting about very tedious and cold in the air-conditioning. We did the usual tourist thing of going for a Singapore Sling in the Raffles hotel, we shared one cocktail between us which came to more than the price of our meal that night!

The other notable thing about Singapore was the standard of coaches. When you book your long distance coach ticket you are shown the quality of the interior and although we went for the cheapest seats we had so much leg room you couldn't really reach the seat in front, the chair reclines without annoying any other passengers and the seats were so big that Lizzi couldn't touch the floor, which actually made them a bit uncomfortable coz they enforced a poor posture.
We travelled about 5/6 hours on one of these coaches from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur....
