Well...lots has happened since I last updated you..... I have experienced working a "Wing Night"; farewelled a friend and colleague; celebrated Valentine's day and managed to get put in the back of a police car; visited the local pub way too much; went to the ice-hockey; experienced the best ice-cream sandwichs ever!; went on a road trip to Vernon for a day of shopping and of course met some more awesome people!
Wing Night...now how do I explain this...basically it is a known fact here that Canadians love their wings and I am talking deep fried chicken wings coated in bread crumbs and covered in various different flavoured sauces. When they are eaten they require heaps of napkins and a warm bowl of lemon water to wash their hands in when they are finished. Wing Night is when you go to the pub and they sell wings at $3.00 for 10 wings, so people rock up and will buy 80 wings of various different flavours and drink loads of beer (usually there are beer specials) before staggering out of the pub and leaving chicken wings all over the floor, chairs and tables. I can't figure out how people cannot keep their food on their plates....but anyway, it's wing night so they can be excused...everyone goes a little nuts on wing nights!

Unfortunately, the beginning of february, meant it was time to say goodbye to Nick, who I lived and worked with at the hostel. The three girls were very sad to see him leave, but we knew he was going to experience some more exciting adventures! So, a farewell party was organised at the local which turned into quite a rowdy, but fun night!
So, Valentine's Day is big over here and the local pub (one of a few) decided to put on a "Lock & Key" party...the boys get given keys and the girls locks and the idea is to go around meeting different people and seeing if the lock can be opened. Luckily I had to work, so didn't arrive until most of the locks had been given out....but a couple of the boys I live with went and managed to "open" some locks....they got some good prizes...which didn't include the girls who's locks they opened (I think they were a little disappointed!)

Anyway we had a few drinks at the pub and left when it closed...as we were walking out I didn't even thnk about the bottle of beer (which had about a mouthful in it) I had in my hand. So, wandering down the street feeling pretty cheerful and fooling around with my mates while we walked home....next thing a police car goes by...I didn't think too much of it...but then it turned around, came back and pulled up next to us. Next thing I know I am being asked to get in the back of the police car...so I get in have a lovely chat with this old copper about the Tamworth Music Festival and then he decides to tell me that I am being fined for drinking in public and that he is really sorry to give me the ticket but there isn't anything he can do about it! I told him that he didn't have to give me the ticket, but he didn't seem to agree with that. I think the scariest thing was when they asked me to get in the car....I was certain they were going to take me away somewhere! But apparently it is normal for them to put you in the car! If only they were wearing their red uniforms, I could have finally succeeded in getting my photo with a mounted policeman.....

I should probably move onto subjects that are slightly less embarrassing for me now....Oh, yeah....I went to an Ice Hockey game the other night..Wow! They are soooo rough! I am still not sure of all the rules...but they do like to beat each other up alot! It was the local team called "The Grizzlies" and I was warned when we got there that you never take your eye off the puck, cause you never know when one well let fly and head off into the stands! And you know what....one did! It went whizzing past my head and I didn't even see it coming, just felt the breeze as it went past! I have wondered since then how many innocent fans have been injured by hockey pucks....might have to Google that one.... ;-)

Sunday night in the hostel we always have a bit of a girls night watching Sex in the City and Desperate Housewives curled up on someones bed and each week one of us buys the treats...Well the other night I went on a little trip to the 7Eleven to buy treats (specifically ice-cream) and discovered the best ice-cream ever! It is a Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice-Cream Sandwich...WOW! They are sooooo good...I think I may be addicted! Basically it is two chocolate chip cookies with a chunk of vanilla ice-cream in the middle....mmmmmm!

Anyway, I have probably given you guys enough to read....so I should head off now! We are actually off to the pub tonight when I finish work...the Iron Shootout is in town, so it's going to be a big weekend! Basically all the sledders come to town with their massive trucks and snowmobiles and they head up the mountian to race them! So, it should be an interesting weekend! But, I'll fill you in on that next time!
