H.C. Andersen's hus wasn't too far from where I was staying.  Just a 5 minute walk.  Oh how nice.  So far I have seen a lot of Danish and German buildings and houses, but not like the ones I seen here.  They look like a bunch of doll houses and I felt like a giant.

Jacob, Heidi and I soon got to the H.C. Andersen museum.  It didn't look like much from outside.  Then I came around the corner.  I saw a nice size yard, small moat and a small playhouse.  We were just in time to see a play being put on by Danish actors.  Sure, I couldn't understand a word of Danish but I soon realized that it was a play called "The Emperor's New Clothes."  And being the big kid I am, I had to stay and watch it.

H.C. was afraid of being trapped somewhere with no escape.

After the play was finished we went inside the museum.  Still didn't look like much from the outside, but I don't judge until I see for myself.  Good thing too.  The museum was huge inside.  Lots to see.  Plenty of information about the life and times of Hans Christian Andersen.  I had to read almost everything, and take pictures.  This museum is great!  It is a must see for young and old alike.  I can't really put my finger on only one thing I liked.  But, I would have to say one of the top 5 were his papercuts.  Wow.

Not only were the papercuts cool.  There was also a glass case I came across that had a rope in it.  After reading the display I found out that H.C. took that rope everywhere he went.  Why?  Well, H.C. was afraid of being trapped somewhere with no escape.  So, he carried the rope with him...everywhere.  I thought that was real cool.

Oh!  If your a parent and want a little time to yourself there is a nice cafe on the grounds to relax in.  At the same time you can send you kids across the lawn to a kids only playhouse.  In there your kids can dress up like any of H.C.'s famous characters and put on their own play.  How cool is that?

This is just a few things I liked about the museum.  There is a whole lot of stuff that is way cool but, it would take me forever to write about them all.  On to shopping and eating we go!
