Our first trip out of our "new home!"
Lana, Dianna, Kate, and i decided to go on a mini vacation to the mountains of poland. The college's international student organization organized a weekend trip to the mountains for any international students that would be interested!
first trip!
we left krakow saturday morning by bus. the trip was 2 hours long, but the roads were not bad at all! we were expecting to be sick by the time we would arrive in the mountains!

once we arrived in zakopane, we were in awe of the many views of the mountains. so much so infact, that we took many pictures of the mountains from our hotel room! we had a GREAT view of the Tatra Mountains! after we were settled in our hotel room, we went to check out the view of the mountains! we rode in a sloped-tram-like lift to the top of a mini mountain to view the big mountains! the cities looked like little toys! it was beautiful.
that night we went out to eat some traditional polish soup (which was like a really good vegetable soup) , and then on to an international "carnaval". the international "get together" took place in a tiny little house/resturant off one of the main roads. it was snowing, and sooooo cold! we met some really nice people from Germany, France, and Many other european countries. it was so nice to finally meet some more people who spoke english! we saw traditional polish dancing! the costumes that the people wore were great too! the music was fantastic. it was great to see them play many instruments in the little log house! there were games being played, music in the air, and so many things to watch and to do in the little house that night. we had a great time!

the next morning, we were surprised to see what we had for breakfast. there were mini slices of ham, some kind of processed meat paste, rolls ( hard ones), bread, jam, tomato, and cucumbers all for us to eat. of course all of the american girls went straight for the jam and rolls! we knew what that was!
during the day, we went to see the ski jump! too bad it was snowing, and no one could jump that day! but, we got to go skiing! the american girls, sebastian, and matilda, went skiing that day! Lana, Dianna, Kate, and i had never skiied before! we didnt really want to because we thought we woul fall over and get hurt...but we did anyways! the slope was so shallow, that it seemed lke it would be ok...and we had a teacher with us to show us how!

after our first time skiing, we went back to the place we had hot chocolate the day before. it was great. we went shopping and bought some yummy honey to eat for breakfast, and little gifts for our friends and family.
the trip home was long...and we really didn't get to sleep on the way home! but....we slept really well that night!
the trip was wonderful...and we all had a great time.
i highly suggest going to see the little town (which sort of reminds me of a ritzy gatlinburg, tn) skiing, watching people skii and sled, and shopping for nice traditional polish fare!
