So, we were just driving along.  The I-Pod batteries were shot, and there was no conversation during the last 5 miles.  Just the hypnotic sound of the wheels on the rock-chipped asphalt.  Anne yells "LOOK!!!"  Without panic and hesitation, I looked out Anne's passenger window.  Through a clearing of the seemingly endless line of Douglas Firs, rose a glaciated volcano named Mt. Rainier.  We entered the park and headed immediately to Paradise, an area with abundant hiking trails and overwhelming scenery.  Surrounded by wildflowers, waterfalls, and one hundred +++ mile visibility, it's easy to see why the area is called Paradise.  (Mt Rainier doesn't look to shabby either)  Catapulting to the number one position of Brian's favorite National Parks, is Mt. Rainier NP.

mmmmm... Flowers.

Every National Park has a centerpiece.  Yellowstone has Old Faithful.  Yosemite has half dome.  Crater Lake has, well, Crater Lake.  Standing at 14,410, Mt. Rainier NP has the most impressive center piece that we have seen.  Glaciers stream off the peak in every direction and waterfalls are more abundant than the tourists that gaze at them.  It's no wonder why so many people attempt the summit, even with the dangers involved.

I could also choose to live inside a bubble, but I'll leave that to Anne when she Zorbs in New Zealand.

For some time now, Anne has requested that I complete my life list.  (A list of things/goals you want to accomplish before you die.  Read "No Opportunity Wasted" for more details)  I have put the list off for a year now, but started it the second I saw Rainier.  Yes, I know there are risks and I know people have died.  I could also choose to live inside a bubble, but I'll leave that to Anne when she Zorbs in New Zealand.  As far as the summit is concerned, I will need a climbing partner.  I have a list of three candidates so far, and will create subs if needed.  Until we meet again Rainier.   bkh
