Getting Ready for Hols

Today is Friday 2nd Feb, and we are busy getting ready for our 4 month trip.  Part of me is really excited, and part is quite scared, it seems daunting to be anticipating 4 months away from the comforts of home, especially with 2 young children in tow.

The general opinion is that I'm either very "brave" or completely "mad".  I'm not sure I'm brave, so must be mad in my opinion.  Well, you only live once, have to make the most of it.

So much for travelling light!!

So how are the preparations going?  Well, everything is practically booked, just have disneyland in california to sort out, and the hotel in Las Vegas.  The bags are nearly packed, just the last clothes to put in, and then the carry-on luggage to sort out, though most of that is in my bedroom ready to be packed.  We have a lot of stuff.  There are 3 large bags, 1 medium bag (ready for overnight stop in Singapore) and then 4 carry-on bags, 2 car seats, and finally 1 pushchair!!  So much for travelling light!

Lots of things to do around the house though, we are trying to empty the freezer so living on rubbish at present!  I refuse to do another shop at sainsbury's, so having to resort to visiting Leigh-on-Sea for milk and fruit and veg.

This blog is cheating a bit by posting this as part of the trip, but heh ho never mind.  To me the trip has already started, and in my mind I have it all visualised.  I often say that before the start of a holiday is the best part, as it is all laid out in front of you, like a large banquet.  Only when you taste it is it as good as you imagined?  And soon enough it is over, but a distant memory.  Hopefully this blog will keep the memory alive for me and my family.
