Vancouver was ccccold! Arriving from Hawaii I was so anticipating the chill with welcome relief. I stayed with relatives for the first week of my trip in a suburb east of the city; a quiet suburb but they lived close to everything and had aweseome views of the snow-capped mountains outside their front door. Apparently they get bears down in those parts sometimes and last week had coyotes in their complex!

Stayed 12 days in downtown Vancouver in a hostel. Weather wasn't crash hot so did a bit of walking, a bit of hanging out in the common room and reading and chatting to other travellers. I met a few people and checked out Granville Island, the town of White Rock (named after a big white rock - yeah) saw lots of big ass seagulls.... went to a bar called 'the furnite warehouse' with a cool chick from Denmark who'd been living in NZ on a boat and there was a big peanut fight in the bar! i then went to that bar the next 3 nites with different people.

I went to English Bay beach and walked around the start of the seawall at Stanley Park. It was beautiful but so cold I need to explore more next time.

Another day a group of us walked about 2 hours to Punjabi market to see the huge Sikh festival and eat free curry, sweets and Chai tea. Went to the movies cos it was raining and (snowing on the mountains!) hung out at the hostel, which was a bit sterile after a while i kinda wanted to move on. Looking forward to getting back to Van when the weather's a little better just to do a few more things and suss it out as possible living destination!
