The Grand Canyon NP
From Our Adventures in Grand Canyon, United States on Jul 03 '06
How cool is it to spend the 4th of July in the Grand Canyon? Pretty darn cool. I mean, what says "America" more than the Grand Canyon?
We arrived in the morning and expected to find a big FULL sign at every campground, but were able to secure a nice site without a problem. And despite it being 7/4, we didn't find the park to be too congested in any location (perhaps it's because the park spans over 1.2 million acres).
suddenly I had a burning desire to know all about the early settlers who set foot in the canyon
I'd been to the Canyon as a child so many of the views seemed familiar, yet they are still amazing. It's just so hard to fathom the fact that peaks and valleys you see are almost 90 miles away. We stopped at many viewpoints to see the sights, and that evening attended a sunset Ranger program to learn the history of the canyon, as well as enjoy the sunset views from the east side. Mostly I wanted to attend the program because Ranger John was HOT! He stopped by our campsite to invite us to the event, and suddenly I had a burning desire to know all about the early settlers who set foot in the canyon. Go figure.

The next day we woke up at 5am to see the sunrise, then did some hiking into the canyon. John the Ranger was nowhere to be found. Anne
