"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?  Thou art more lovely and more temperate." --Sonnet 18.  Old Bill Shakespeare himself couldn't have picked a better summer's day when we rolled into Stradford-upon-Avon.  Quite a sizable crowd was there enjoying picnics on the grass, riding bikes, sailing/rowing boats and feeding the hordes of ducks and swans along the banks of the River Avon.  Overlooking the river is the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.  The theatre has a bar/restaurant facing the water as well as a dock connecting the RST to the Elizabethan-style Swan Theatre.  Unfortunately, time was pressing and we wouldn't have a chance to wander through town.  I wish some of my actor friends could've been there, they'd have really dug it.

A little bridge in Stradford built with prison labor. Nice job, fellahs!

Coming up: the Principality of Wales.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
