In Transit. and got cheated!
From Aaron Does South America in Tumbes, Peru on Oct 01 '06
Hello hello.
Not much to say except that I have been travelling with Danish-Korean girl Helle Bonseur Nielsen for days since meeting her in a dodgy hostel. Its funny cos we were meant to separate ages ago but I think we kinda got too attached and too comfortable being together that when it was time for her to go her separate way, she decided to trash the idea to go to Mancora beach to spend another night with me in Tumbes.
Crossing the Peru Border and nearly got rejected!
There at tumbes, the greatest lesson I have learnt is to never NEVER negotiate with anyone at the bus station just when getting off the bus after a 20 hours long bus ride in the middle of the night. Stupid taxi guy took us on a while goose chase and charged us 30 peruvian soles when locals only pay 2 soles. Further more we could have walked it! argh.
At the Peru Ecuador border, was held there for ages while the officer was scrutinizing my passport with a magnifying glass with UV light in a dark room cos he thought my pass port was fake. Had a good laugh trying to explain to him that was I previously in the army and hence my expiry dates of my passport only lasted 6 months each time.
HAd to end up marching on the spot and saluting to finally have them get the idea what i meant ARMY. haha. A little worried i was going to be held but thank god they let me off with a ¨I can´t care less anymore¨ look and a wave of the hand.
