Arrived in Mexico City feeling tired but feeling very at home- it was raining! We checked into our hotel, had some lunch (luckily no lamb this time!) and then I had a siesta (travelling really takes it out of you) while J went to the Museo Nacional de Antropolga with theother students. She said it was very interesting but everyone was so tired they didn't really take in much!
LOVE Mexican driving- they just pull out regardless (why bother with indicators) and beep at each other. Had an exciting experience when our taxi was driving towards a tram coming in our direction, but he just beeped and swerved into a small space.. hehe!

Next day I slept some more while J and the others spent the day at the British Council doing workshops or something. J bought our bus ticket to Colima too. Is apparently 300km away and takes 10hrs, luckily is overnight so I can sleep some more!!
That eve we went to a v cool bar. It had lots of red lanterns hanging outside and you could hear the music from about 100m away! The band playing were fab- they played lots of rock and indie (some in English too) while we sipped on margaritas and pia coladas. Well guzzled rather than sipped really! Things become a bit hazy but remember one girl getting up to sing with the band (schoolgirl error) and others pulling Mexican bar staff. Don't know how I got home... think I was carried...

Had HANGOVER next day (Jen unsympathetic) so spent morning in bed. J said goodbye to the others as they were all off to different parts of Mexico to do their thang...
The remaining ones (us included) who weren't travelling till the eve checked out and went to a hostel in the city centre (Zcalo) where we left our bags. After lunch we went to the cathedral (v impressive) and the national palace where there were some cool murals depicting Mexican history from the Aztecs through to the Spanish conquest. In the plaza they were having a book fair (was going to buy a book of Spanish jokes but they weren't funny) so instead watched some little indigenous men jumping around doing a fire dance to the beat of drums. (Going to be my next mission- learn to dance like that). We saw Kenny off (hail Kenny- he's a legend) and then we went to the site of the old pyramids, Templo Mayor. Walked on into the market which sells absolutely everything from hose pipes to fake cds, tacky tourist stuff and food... Really cool afternoon.
