After leaving Cali I went to Popayan just as a stop over. I walked around the colonial city and went up a small hill to get a view of the city and the surrounding mountains.

Hi Mike, I saw your blog and thought I'll write to you and see if I can get some advise... I'm 27 and have been working in finance (London) since I graduated from university. I've been salsa dancing for 3 - 4 years and I'd very much to take at least 6 months off next year to live in Cali to improve my dancing and see Colombia!! A lot of people thinks it's a dangerous country (though I suspect you're more likely to get mugged/stabbed/assualted in London than getting into trouble in Colombia if you take the usual precautions) but I'm planning to go there alone, as I don't have friends there. Any suggestions as to where to look for short term accommodation (problem is, I don't want to end up in some 'dodgy/dangerous area') and cost of living in Cali?
