We arrived quite early in the morning they herded us off the bus onto sawngteaws and took us to a guesthouse, we were given free coffee and then they tried the hard sell and tried to get us to book their tours, we drank the coffee and left, we found a nice little place after looking at a couple in between called thai thai kitchen and guesthouse costing 200 baht a night. the next day we went elephant riding and white water rafting ticking two of emilys to do boxes. This was about an hour and a half from Chiangmai and was the single biggest expense so far at about 30 pounds each (but very worth it.) We both had an elephant each we were left on our own Emily had a slightly smaller female elephant and Ian had a big bull. Emilys elephant was very bannana orientated and new where to get them as well, there was one scary bit when a 4 by 4 came up behind us and they both started running, but the elephants seemed to know where they were going which was good because we didn't. These elephants looked alot more content here and not a single spikey club could be seen. That afternoon was taken up by white water rafting, they told us it was a level 4 rapids, there were two boats each containing 5 people including one thai instructor. in our boat we had ourselves and a couple frome Wales, the other boat contained a Irianian couple and a russian couple. We showed them how it was done :). It was really great fun and is something we both hope to do again on our trip. To cap the day off Ian saw his first Forktail that day. We had a Thai massage that evening and then had a bit of a late evening in  the chiang mai clubs both drinking way too much.
