On a Scrambler to Bokor Hill Station
From On a Scrambler to Bokor Hill Station in Kampot, Cambodia on Dec 19 '05
I'm not such a lover of old houses, but this place was extremely fantastic, with buildings mostly in ruins but a couple of them still well preserved, with none of that usual sourish odour or wet mouldy feel that you usually find in ruins at lower elevations. And I was really lucky to go at a time of the day when it was entirely bright and clear -- much of the time the place is covered in a mist giving it a ghostly air. And the views from the top -- just breathtaking. Some pictures here (not very well taken but it gives you some idea of what I saw). Extremely arduous but exhilarating ride up to the sprawling former resort area on the back of a 250cc scrambler. 3 hours, return.
