As mentioned we decided to stay at the Eco Park Resort, changing our original plan of venturing to the coast, then Bend, Or. and then Crater Lake. It wasn't such a hardship, really. The folks at Eco Park, Dawn and Mark Smith are such wonderful hosts, fantastic cooks and such hard working folks, you can't help but enjoy their company. As the website, http://www.ecoparkresort.com explains far better than I can, Eco Park has lodging, horseback riding, hiking, and even helicopter rides. At night, they light a campfire for all to enjoy. It is great place for families and would make a wonderful place for a wedding OR family reunion. The rates are reasonable, the cabins and bathrooms VERY clean. The food is to die for, really, I'm not just quoting a cliche. If you do go, please observe the park speed limit when driving about, there are horses, children and others walking about..what's your hurry anyway, aren't you supposed to be on vacation???

Some of the Foxglove(what the heart medicine Digoxin or Digitalis is made from). The plant is considered poisionous if ingested but when made for the medication is safe. Again another plant that back east, I purchased from my garden. It grows EVERYWHERE here! UGH.

As I mentioned, we pulled in on Monday just to get lunch, we then decided to stay one night, then extended it to 6! We were convinced they thought we were homeless---well, we really were as our house in Pendleton wasn't going to be available until Aug. 11th.

Staying at Eco Park was a great thing, It was so needed by all of us! The daily driving in the car, the hotel thing was getting OLD, quick. We were able to just relax, play chinese checkers, read, and camp, without computers, TVs or the world to bug us. Bear and Scooby were able to stretch their legs as our cabin had a nice backyard with hiking trails behind it. We watched beautiful sunsets and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the woods. We didn't get to see any Elk however :( but decided we would go back in late Sept/early Oct. to hear the elk bugling(mating calls). Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Knev7wPWC2Q to listen to their version of the song, "I'm in the Mood for Love".
