Fresh air!

It was heavenly to walk off a plane and feel cold! Perhaps a little too cold as we were wondering if we had packed enough jumpers - this was further confirmed by our bed in the B&B having an electric blanket. The temperature here is about 15 degrees which compared to the 35+ it was in Singapore has been a bit of a shock to our bodies. We spent most of the night shivering until the heater in the room got up to full temperature. We now feel comfortable - wrapped up like Michelin men but snug.

The B&B we are staying in is lovely and the breakfast this morning was brilliant. We didn't really eat much at all yesterday with all the flying and time changes so we made up for it this morning. The owner probably thought we were going to eat him out of house and home after we both had cereal, fruit and a cooked breakfast.

It's just so beautiful and fresh

We've been up the Christchurch gondola this morning to see the mountains we will be climbing later in the trip. The views were outstanding and with no cloud in the sky, perfect viewing weather. We then went for a little walk along the tops of the hills which only confirmed how much training we need to get in before we get to Peru. If the weather stays like this we will be walking miles everyday - it's just so beautiful and fresh.

We're just about to set off for our second walk of the day, around Hagley Park, before ringing up the campervan place to arrange collection tomorrow. Then the Wintys will be on the road starting the real adventure - especially since I will be map reading!

Right, better go and have another chilled out afternoon - I could get used to this not working thing.....
