I had a bit of a rugged trip up here starting with a morning train from Paris to London, then a MegaBus trip from London to Leeds, then a connection across town to get onto the Yorkshire Coastliner to get to York. A whole days travelling!Well now I have been in York for a few days so far and have walked the walls around the city which was amazing. Took some awesome pics along the way. Then we have visited the York Castle Museum today to see the Victorian Street replica that was neat but could have been more interactive.

Over the last few days in York Sara and I finally managed to do the night river cruise which was neat because we got to see some of the main highlights of York from the river, and with the added bonus of being spectacularly lit up at night! We visited the York Minster which is a must-see in York as it is the largest gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. It also has almost half the stained glass in England in its windows. We also had a day trip out to a historic market town called Knaresborough that had a medieval castle sight (my first time in the grounds of a real castle!) and we had a pleasant springtime walk by the river and through a meadow. This was also the setting for my first sight of the famous 'white horse' that is actually in the Yorkshire Moors and is a large image of a white horse in the grass that was created in the prehistoric period and is argued to be too large and perfect to have been created by humans without help from 'above' (ie Aliens!) All in all York was a great town with lots to see but towards the end of my visit I realised that I had had enough of being a tourist and was actually quite looking forward to starting work and settling down finally so I packed my bags and caught the train to Sheffield where I had a job and flat lined up.
