Our ship took us to Rhodes, another Greek island, for the day. Found an internet cafe that was really nice except there were about 10 pigeons in the vent making really creepy coo-ing noises. They were playing some normal music that we hear back home. On the boat they like to play really old music from the 60's (yes, 60’s remixes!), 70's (YMCA) and other really bad songs like "I'm Too Sexy" (Right Said Fred (OK, I’ll admit I like Right Said Fred-I had the tape!). Our clothes were getting pretty gross so, to the advice of TQ, we took our nasty clothes to Star Laundry where you could drop off your laundry and they washed, dried and folded your clothes. It was ready for pick up in about 2 hours…our kind of service!

TQ took us for a walk-about of the city. We passed through Old Town and saw the old castles and fountains and checked out the Grand Master Palace and when TQ set us free for the next couple of hours, we ended up just wandering around the old medieval town and the port. It is believed that over the port entrance once stood the Kolossos of Rhodes (one of the world's seven wonders) supposedly 32 m high to welcome the incoming ships but was destroyed in an earthquake. Steph and I are skeptical that this thing could've even existed since it was so huge for that time.

After this bit of sightseeing, we decided to hit our first real beach on our trip. We rented some sun chairs and lay around in the sun, read our books and took short naps. It was nice and hot finally so we could finally spend some time away from our hoodies. We thought of taking a bus to the resort area to check out those beaches but since that meant we had less time on the beach, we stayed in. I really don't even know what day it is here anymore. I keep thinking its Wednesday when it's Tuesday or Thursday when it's Wednesday. Oh well, we’re on vacation!

After some sun, we met up with our tour group at this pirate bar. They had parrots, a ship and a pool inside. It was pretty cool but probably a tourist trap like most places we go. On the way back to the ship, the group stopped for some more beers on a patio and this crazy South African/Kiwi guy and TO Steve attempted to down a 2L “Boot Beer” (yes, it’s a glass shaped like a boot and full of beer) in about 15 minutes. The SA/Kiwi polished his off but TO Steve was a disappointment to Canada and could only finish a quarter of it. Since the SA/Kiwi was not on our boat (he was on another Contiki cruise), Steve left the remainder of his beer with the SA/Kiwi and we were off to the ship. (We met up the SA/Kiwi later on and found out he finished both boots-impressive!)
