Huntington Beach State Park, SC

* Again the map is not showing this in the right place.  This is a state park on the eastern seasboard just below Myrtle's Beach near Murell's Inlet in the state of South Carolina.

Campsite # 003

Myrtle Beach . They have built new roads around Myrtle Beach since the last time we were here over 15 years ago but it is expanding out into the farm county with condos, apartments, shopping Wednesday and Thursday April 23 & 24. We drove to South Carolina just below centers and more and more and more golf courses. We stayed for two nights at Huntington Beach State Park.

Huntington Beach Campground – Huntington Beach, South Carolina - $23 plus fees and taxes – Site 3 – water and electricity. We had a great site near the beach and entry road and the sea was one sand dune away. We could hear it at night as we were falling asleep.

This campground in on the beautiful grounds of the state park and the former winter home of Archer and Ann Huntington – Atalaya (very interesting) which is open daily and free to explore. Brookline Gardens is across the route 17, also built by the Huntington’s and well known for its gardens and famous sculptures. Beaches are beautiful, places to ride bikes all over the park and out along the highway and some sites are more private than others. Very peaceful, education center, marsh boardwalks, bird watching, alligators, palm trees.

Enjoyable place to camp and we will be back! We actually spotted more bike trails as we were leaving that goes towards Myrtle Beach along the main highway Route 17. George and I took lots of bike rides and beach walks. We really enjoyed the Moorish House Atalaya. We did feel that camping this time of the year we were one of the youngest campers in the park so many seniors camping! George’s blood pressure keeps on dropping and after seeing all these seniors he feels like he is a kid again! Ha!
