My Last Blog
From EN FRANCE in Azay-le-Rideau, France on Jan 05 '09
Hi everyone!
Sorry about slacking off for the last two weeks. We went to Rome on Christmas (which was absolutely fantastic, but you can hear all about that when I get home) and after that the days just sped past until I found myself here, now, spending my last night in my little room. Tomorrow, Wednesday, we're leaving for Paris in the evening (or at least I think we are - they don't tell me these things, I just pick up key words in conversation and then have to piece together the puzzle myself) but I know that Marie-Charlotte and Christine are staying behind because Marie has an important exam on the day that I leave, the 8th, and Christine has to drive her. So tomorrow I have to say goodbye to them both! And I don't know about Anne-So, I assume she's coming with us to the airport but who knows? Anyway, it's altogether too sad for me to bear.
Snow Day!
I'll just tell you about a happier event: yesterday it snowed! And I mean really snowed, with huge fat flakes falling at an amazing rate. Ten centimetres fell in one afternoon! It took us about three times longer than usual to get home from school because the road was so slippery that we crawled along at 40 instead of the usual 120km/h. Then the good news arrived: the next day was declared a Snow Day! Those of you who are familiar with The Simpsons will know that this means that you don't have to go to school because it's impossible to get there. Hooray for living in the country! So instead of waking up at 6:10am, I slept in until 9:30 in my toasty bed. When everyone was up and running, Claire, Anne-So and I went outside to play in the snow. I really wanted to make a snowman but the snow was too powdery and soft for the pro rolling technique to work. The others gave up, but I persisted with a little snowball and ended up with a mini bonhomme de neige. I stuck him on the letterbox. He was extremely ugly because his head was too small and I made his eyes too far apart. Yay!
Tomorrow the forecast is -7 degrees, the coldest yet. The snow on the roads that was beginning to melt this afternoon will freeze, so driving will again be rendered impossible. School has already been called off. This is both good and bad: good because I don't enjoy school, but bad because it means that I can't take pictures with all of the Frenchies. And you can't see all the incredibly sexy French boys with their windswept hair and scarves and coats! Tant pis. I was never going to go to school tomorrow anyway, because I have to pack my suitcases. What fun.
So, see you when I get back!
Love from Munch xx
