Up early in the morning to catch the bus from our apartment in Estepona and off to Tangier.  After a much longer bus ride than anticipated to the ferry we were shuffled through lines, had our passports inspected but told to put them away and only wear our tags given to us as part of the tour group.  We were told that at times a forty five minute ferry crossing can take up to four hours depending upon the rough sea.  That did not excit someone who doesn't take the open seas very well.  Safely across the other side we were herded to our bus and then off to the Caves of Hercules, tour through the city and then various stops.  Yes one stop let us ride the camels.  Poor dusty old beasts having these tourists come and get on for a photo "op".  A delicious and memorable meal was served in tents and then off to the Medina.  We were fortunate to hear the bells from the Mosque ring and see the people (men) head toward the mosque.  Short videos on our digital cameras captured handicapped persons, young and old streaming toward the mosque with the sounds of bells and music.  After being escorted through various large warehouses and very tiny crowded streets with tent type shops we were become visually over stimulated.  What a beautiful day to have captured such a strong culture.  My suggestion would be to perhaps spend a night in the city (on a tour).

Another world
