Today we visited my favourite mouse, Mickey Mouse.  Disney Hong Kong found on Lantau Island, is only a short MTR ride away from Hong Kong Island city centre.  We took the MTR to Sunny Bay where we changed to the Disneyland Resort line.  The train was impressive with Mickey Mouse shaped windows and handrails, mini statues of Disney characters and soft blue velvet seats.

The park was a lot smaller that the USA parks, consisting of Main Street USA, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland.  However, it is fairly new so we let it off.  Nonetheless we had a great day on the rides, steve especially enjoyed Buzz Light Year and Space Mountain where he shouted as many Chinese words he knew (not many) at the top of voice.  We were very impressed with their afternoon parade.  Unlike USA, they have produced their own unique waterworks parade where characters and cast squirt water over the crowd, cooling people down in the unbearable heat.

As we entered the park I was quick to spot Mickey and Minnie Mouse and insisted that we que for a photo.  Steve doesn't love Mickey quite as much as i do (so he says), so he decided he would take the photo.  Whilst queueing, the heat was increasing so Steve rolled his trousers up (not looking the most fashionable person is the park).  When we reached the from of the que I threw my bag over Steve's head whilst I had my picture. The funny thing was Mickey pulled Steve into the photo, whilst a cast member took the photo instead.  Only after did Steve realise that he had been caught on camera wearing a ladies bag, committing a fashion crime and cuddling a mouse - haha.

We saw lots of other characters, who a childishly got my photo with.  The funniest being the chipmunks.  Four Chinese girls around our age starting screaming and waving their arms in the air with excitement when they saw the chipmunks.  The chipmunks did the same in return and they all started jumping up and down, and hugging as if they were old friend.  It was so funny to see.

Due to recent heavy rainfall and cooler weather, we decided to wear jeans which proved to be a major error.  We discovered that Sunny Bay was not not named that for no reason.  Temperatures were in the 30's and humidity extremely high.  For the first time ever, we enjoyed queueing for rides as it meant we got to enjoy the air conditioning.  However, to be honest there was hardly any ques.  Sitting down on rides proved most difficult, as our jeans kept sticking to our legs due to the heat.  We searched the park for shorts but found none, so we had no choice but to return to the hotel to change.  The funny was, it was tipping it down on Hong Kong Island, but when we arrived back in Sunny Bay the sun was still shinning and it was hotter than ever.

By early evening we had been on all our desired rides, so we decided to jump on the MTR and travel one stop to Tung Chung, Lantau Island.  This is where the cable carts and buses usually operate, taking people to the Big Buddha and Monastery.  We wanted to check for ourselves if there was any development since the services had been suspended due to flooding.  However, everything remained closed :-( A resident originally from Australia recommended reaching the Buddha by boat via Tai O, but this area was one of the most flooded areas.

There was not much else in Tung Chung apart from a good Mall containing outlet stores for brands such as Addidas, K Swiss and Levis etc.  The rest of Tung Chung appeared to be a residential area, so we got back on the MTR where we traveled back to Disney to view the evening fireworks.
