Well, took us about 20 minutes in the taxi, and the total cost was $200 (pesos 0 20 dollars); we split the cost with the other couple so made it pretty cheap considering the distance. Managed to find our way to Hotel Hidalgo, the cheapest option in our Lonely Planet at 26 dollars per night for a double room with en suite. We weren't too impressed with LM in the dark, so hoped it would look better in daylight.
The Hotel was pretty hilarious...it had cable so we managed to watch a couple of AWFUL films in English, and at midnight there was a power cut. The room had air conditioning and no window, therefore power cut = no air con = SWELTERING HEAT! For Jodie this was awful as he was still awake when it happened, but I'd already crashed out by then so it didn't bother me too much. Woke up at about 3am to hear a couple getting it on a few doors down...that was lovely, truly lovely. I thought maybe the hotel doubled as a brothel, but we will never know for sure. The power clunked back on at 4am so we slept for the rest o' the night.

Woke up the next morning, had a quick HOT shower (yes...well, luke warm as it's so hot here) and managed to find the bus station where we jumped on the autobus to Mazatlan.
p.s. Los Mochis did look better during the day, but not by much)
