Well, after 18 hours of planes and airports we finally arrived yesterday in Zurich around 11:00 am.  We were greeted by; Pam's brother Pascal and his girlfriend Adriana, and her Dad Walter and his girlfriend.

We arrived in Thun a few hours later and unpacked at Pascal and Adriana's beautiful flat near the train station downtown.  The flat is modern and big, with views of the canal that runs through the city and the Alps right out of the huge dining room window.  It's really quite impressive!  They have the place all decked out in Christmas decorations and a beautiful tree with real candles on it.

We've arrived in Thun, happy but jet lagged!

After unpacking her Dad Walter stayed with us (his girlfriend had to run) while Pascal and Adriana prepared a hot lunch of sausage and Swiss potato salad.  After lunch Pam gave some gifts to her family from the U.S., then we realxed for a few hours.  Pam was able to take a short nap to help her from the jet lag but I decided to power though.

It's very cold here in Thun, with temps averaging during the day around freezing or slightly below.

As a suprise to me, we all headed out around 5:30 pm to a village about 15 minutes out for my birthday dinner at a restaurant with a cozy fireplace.  Pam had overhead me saying before the trip that I wanted to try the Swiss dish Rösti, which closley resembles hashbrown potatos (only better!) so her Dad took us to one of the best places around as a treat.  The food was awesome and the Rösti did not disappoint.

After dinner, we came back to Thun and said goodbye to Walter as he went home to his flat nearby.  Pascal, Adriana, Pam and I walked around downtown and found a place near a skating rink to have a night cap and then we turned in.

This morning, we got up and Pascal and I drove Pam to a dentist appointment to have her teeth cleaned at 8:00 am in a village 20 minutes away called Fruitigen.  There was quite a bit of snow there compared to Thun, and Pascal and I had coffee at a coffee shop there until Pam was done with her appointment.

We had a nice lunch at Pascal and Adrian's flat, then... it happened around noon.

JET LAG!

Pam and I both got hit with the worst case of jet lag we've ever had.  We hit the dirt so hard it was incredible.  I am writing this just after I woke up (around 3:30 pm) and Pam is still alseep.  Hopefully we will be over it after today.

Tonight we plan to take it easy as we are off to Pam's grandparents for a visit tomorrow.
