We are finally beginning to get the hang of Japan!  The train systems are truly amazing!  People line up off to the side of the train doors and actually let passengers get off the train before attempting to get on.  And Japan's garbage process is unbelievable!  You can't find trash cans ANYWHERE, yet the streets and trains are immaculate.  People take their trash with them and dispose of it at home.  If we're lucky, we may find trash cans at a 7-11, but they have different slots for combustible & non-combustible trash...which we can't read, so we just resort to taking our trash with us back to the base!  :)

This used to be a drydock...now it's the home of a huge shopping area in Yokohama.

We still haven't found a house yet.  Well, we did find the 'perfect' house, but one hour too late...someone submitted their contract an hour before we did.  We know we'll find something...we're just getting sick of living out of suitcases.

On Nov 2nd, after a long day of house-hunting in Yokohama, we met up with one of Phil's co-workers (James) who lives in Yokohama.  He gave us an excellent tour of a few of the city's highlights...Landmark Tower (the tallest building in Japan) & Minato Mirai 21 (MM21), the cleanest China Town we've ever seen (kinda felt like Epcot), and Red Brick Warehouse (shopping area).  He took us to a restaurant in the Red Brick Warehouse where we ate on mattresses...can't remember the name, but it was a great place!  We went to a few bars, played darts, and then headed back to Yokosuka.

Last week, we attended the Area Orientation Brief on the base.  We both passed the written portion of the driving test and will take the road test this week...yikes!!!   We also had our first karaoke night in Japan...lots of fun!

Make sure you check out our pictures...we've included a few pics from the Yokosuka area too!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Here's your Japanese for the day:  "Hambuger" (pronounced "Hom-bog-a") which of course means "Hamburger."  Can you guess how you say "Cheeseburger?"  Yup..."chees-ie-bog-a!"

An American sized refrigerator and stove! Phil, you must be thrilled. I was worried you'd have to put up with something the size of an easy-bake, but this is a relief. Great pictures by the way and congratulations on the house!
