We Made It!

We are here!  We arrived yesterday morning at around 10:00 AM.  We cruised through immigration and customs and were met at the door by Sishir's mom and dad, Chitra and Sekar.  We piled into the cab (a van) with our luggage and headed through the streets of Madras to the house.  Even though I had been warned, by Sishir and many of our friends, that it would be hot, humid and noisy, I don't think you can ever be prepared for the heat and the sounds and the teeming masses of humanity.  The van ride took about an hour and then we were safe at the house.  After settling into our room we took a much needed shower and went downstairs to meet his Grandma and Uncle Umashankar.  The house is two stories; they live on the first and Chitra & Sekar on the second.  We took a quick nap and then walked across the street to visit another uncle and aunt, Balu and Priya, and their son Anant.  That was all for the first day.

Today we ventured out in an autorickshaw (little yellow three-wheeled taxi for two) and got me some Indian clothes.  I also took a long nap.  We found a cyber cafe to use to update the blog (the dialup at the house doesn't work so well) and we're going to Mahabalipuram tomorrow.
