We left Perth on Friday morning at 7am and just drove all day long. We reached our first camp site at about 6:30. It was the Wagarno Sheep Station, sheep fields and a large shearing shed and some outback toilets comprised our camp. We set up our tents and made a big fire that we cooked dinner on. There was the most beautiful and full moon that night that rose late in the evening just on the horizon, and the sun rise the next morning was just as spectacular.
We then drove all day again on the second day. On red dirt roads through the desert. We arrived at the Newman Caravan Park in the evening and they thankfully had a swimming pool, which was heaven after a hot sweaty day on a bus. We camped again and had a gazebo with sinks and a grill to cook with. While leaving Newman the next day we stopped at the local mining museum. The only real industry or reason many people live up in the region is because of the mining opportunities.
