Girls Day at the Studio!
From My Study Abroad in England in Manchester, United Kingdom on Feb 26 '08
So I had so much fun in Manchester yesterday. It was really great. When we first got there they took our jackets and bags then asked if wanted something to drink. Then we went and talked to the the hairdresser that would cut our hair.
I knew going in that I would come out with a very different haircut...well because I'm in the UK and the hair styles are very different over here. So I told her that I wanted it layered and that I wanted the bottom layer to be about shoulder length with layers around my face and that I wanted to be able to flip it out. So i watched as she just kept cutting, more and more. Then when I thought she was all done cutting and she dried it she went back and "thinned" it some more by cutting more off. So it's very different then anything I've had before, but it's cute and I think i'll really like it.

After the haircut and style we were off to nails and makeup. The makeup lady painted our nails for us. I just got a clear put on my nails, didn't want color. Then the professional make up artist talked to us about what type of look we wanted for our pictures. I ended up deciding to do the smoky eye look, I was a little hesitant becuase I don't like the really really dark brow eyes and heavy heavy eyeliner. I wanted my eyes to be the focus in the pictures so this was the best option. OMG, when she finished i felt like a completely new person. I have learn how to do that to my eyes. I almost had to take a double take of myself in the mirror. Then it was Josie's turn to do her make up. I really like the way the lady did her make-up too.
So after we finished with all that, which was a couple hours later, we went back out to the sitting area. Where we waited for the photographer to come. He was a really young guy and easy to get along with. We each picked three outfits to take pictures in. The first ones we did on a white background with white stairs. I wore that new black and white dress I told you about. Josie and I took a few together at this point. The second outfit I wore was my pink rose flowered shirt with jeans and little black shoes. These were fun pictures becuase he had us sit in this circle thing, kinda hard to describe. Then the third outfit was a black shirt with a jean jacket. He took those against a blue shiny metallic background, it really looks like an 80's pic, real fun.
After we took all the pictures, of course they had to make their money and sell us pictures. So we went into another room with a different person and looked at the pictures. It was amazing how well they came out. They look so so different then my highs school senior pictures. I ended up paying a little bit more so that I could get one of Josie and I and a couple more pictures, but honestly so so worth it. I wish they come sooner, but it can take up to eight weeks before we get them.
