The only real down side I found for the trip was that the food is pretty expensive, and there aren't a lot of choices. I don't eat fish, so on an island that really limits what is left. Most restaurants had chicken with the bones still in it, hamburgers, assorted fried fish or the island favorite conch. I ate quite a few hamburgers over the week. For my husband and I to eat, (me the hamburger and him usually the conch) I don't think we got out of a restaurant for under $50 at a pop. There are fast food restaurants in an Freeport ~~ KFC, Burger King, McDonald's, Pizza Hut and Wendy's. There may be more, but those are the ones I noticed. I don't really eat much of that food at home, so it was hard to think about eating it on vacation.

My favorite thing besides the very empty beaches was Lucayan National Park. It's $3 per person to get in, and there are a couple of caves to see. Don't pay for a tour, there really are just two caves to see. Across the street though is the mangrove forrest. This was very cool. It had been raining quite a bit, so when I say the walkway to the beach was a little flooded that would be an understatement. We were walking through water up to our knees in some spots, but it came out on a very beautiful beach complete with pelicans and some sandpipers that didn't seem to mind that we weren't birds. There were some fish swimming in schools around our feet and the water was crystal clear and very warm!
