Driving across Minnesota toward South Dakota, we were surprised somewhat at the amount of agriculture lining the Interstate. Hard to tell what the crops were at this time of year, but it seemed to be a mixture of corn, wheat at least. But what we soon came to find out is evidently it is windy through most of Minnesota. Wind powered turbines dot the landscape, some bigger than others. It was really cool to see the big ones. (Don't think you'll see wind turbines this big in Vt. any time soon). The geography was flat (shocking) but the weather was better, Sunny: Yippee!

Heading into South Dakota, we headed toward Mitchell, a community of 15,000 people and  the home of the World Famous Corn Palace. (http://www.cornpalace.org/newpages/palace.html). Yes, in the photos, you are seeing real corn husks, stalks and cobs that make up the design on the face of this building. It is an amazing work of art that the seagulls also enjoy. Unfortunately we had arrived too late in the day, the gift shop was closed :(
