Belinda and I were up really early for our trip to Kangaroo Island. It was about an hour drive to the ferry. Thinking that it was the middle of summer, Belinda and I both put on our boardies and t-shirts. I even packed my jumper in my bag. When we got to the ferry I had to get my jumper out of my bag. It was freezing! I also took my dramamine because I was told that it was going to be rough seas. great.

I did fine on the ferry and we got to Penneshaw, repacked our bus and were off. We stopped at a Eucalyptus distillery and then headed off for lunch. The place where we stopped was covered with ash from the fires that had gone through a few months ago. Driving away from our picnic area we could see the damage that the fires had done. We stopped at Hansen Bay to do a quick koala watching walk. I think we saw about 10 and one with a very immature baby that was sticking out of the pouch.

Off to Seal Bay Conservation Park where we observed the seals on the beach. It was amazing standing there and having all the seals around you. Watching them interact was great fun! Next stop was Remarkable Rocks which lived up to their name! the way the wind and water has shaped them is quite strange. it was amazingly cold and windy while we were there. Another trip to the coast to Admirals Arch where there were also a bunch of stinky, but cute NZ Fur Seals. After a full day we went to our little cottage at Vivonne Bay, unpacked and got dinner ready. Later that evening we went to watch the little Fairy Penguins come ashore. I had the best bunk in the cottage because I was right next to the fire! I was cozy warm all night!

On Valentines morning we woke up to a beautiful view of the bay with the sunrays breaking through the clouds. After breakfast we were off to Little Sahara for some sandboarding. I only watched because after the hike up my back was killing me. So off to beautiful Stokes Bay for some swimming and snorkelling. The water was freezing but I couldn’t resist. After the beach we went to The Honey Farm, where I had all kinds of honey, yummy honey ice cream and some honey mead. Then on to Kingscote where we had lunch by the ocean and the sun finally came out! Soon after we were on the ferry again and back to the mainland.

I didn’t have a very eventful Valentines Day romantically. I got 2 messages and one was from a girl. So it was a pretty pathetic day in that category. oh well...maybe next year!! haha!
