Yesterday we had a chill out day; it was Sunday and we were all ready for some vegging. We watched tv, the boys had a swim, I did a load of washing (the pleasure of laundry had eluded me up till now but when you only have 4 t-shirts and one pair of trousers, clean clothes take on a whole new meaning), and we went to the cinema to see a matinee of Ratatouille (OK, but not a patch on The Incredibles).

Then we hit ‘The Red Lobster’, a seafood restaurant we got turned away from the night before (popular place).  This was a big treat because although it’s a chain, it was still healthy-ish food which we’d all been craving. Overall it was good - salads, fresh vegetables, grilled chicken for the kids, lobster for Jont and ‘Endless Shrimp’ for me. No really, endless. I had fried shrimp, garlic shrimp (twice), and shrimp linguine. I could also have had popcorn shrimp, battered shrimp or bbq shrimp, but by this stage I was shrimp-ed out. Maybe permanently.   Jont meanwhile was fascinated by the bizarre cocktail menu. There was the intriguing ‘Lobsterita’ which was basically a huge Margarita, the ‘London Lobsterini’, and their Special Shrimp Cocktail which included mystery ingredient ‘Clamato’. Remember in that episode of the Simpsons where Homer accidentally crossbred tomato and tobacco and called it tomacco? Well this very concept obviously inspired some crazed marketeer to come up with clamato, an oyster/tomato juice hybrid which cleverly uses up the world’s excess of both AND increases sales of Diareze as a bonus. In the end Jont had a Stella and I had a (regular) margarita, but I made him promise to drink anything containing ‘clamato’ next time it’s on the menu in the interests of modern gastronomy.
