We had a great time in Melaka.  We left Singapore by getting the tube and bus up to the border crossing.  At customs I kept teasing Anna saying that I bet she had lost all the customs paper work for S'pore.  As it turns out I lost mine!!!  So I was hauled off to some little room for 30mins-45mins.  Anna thought I was being interrogated/ searched with a bit of anal probing thrown in.  As it turns out I was just in a queue, and the man dealing with me didn't know how to use a computer without asking for help every 5 mins.  Eventually we made it through into Malaysia and onto a bus to Malaka.

Eating Satay. This involves dipping uncooked food into your own personal vat of boiling satay sauce, till it cooks. Its like a mongolian hotpot (for those who know what one of those is....)

Melaka is a coastal town that had been colonialised by the Portuguese and British.  The town has a really big Chinese and Indian quarter.  There is not that much to do apart from strolling around town.  We did however go to an awful light show one evening that was meant to tell the history of Malaka through sights and sounds by lighting up the historic buildings.  It was terrible though and the cd crashed about 10 mins before the end.

The next day we went on a river boat cruise that was excellent.  The guide was so funny.  In the water there are these huge lizards around 1 - 1.5m long, swimming up and down they looked like small crocodiles.

After leaving Melaka we made are way up to the Taman Negara national park.  Had a bit of a nightmare with buses, ended up in a random bus station about an hour away from Jerantut the town we intended to stay for the night.  We paid this guy to drive us to Jerantut, so we could leave early the next morning to the national park.
