When I originally planned to go to Switzerland in February I didn't realise that it was the month of Fasnacht festivals. I was really fortunate in being able to stay with friends in Basel while the festival was on. It's a four day festival to hurry up the end of winter and bring in spring. The festival starts with a parade at 4am where the only lights in the town are the lights from the parade and the only noise is the music of the drums and piccolos in the parade. This carries on constantly for four days - I only stayed for 1 day but it was definately worth it.

From Basel I headed to Zurich - the biggest city in Switzerland. I was there for a day so spent most of the time walking around the city taking in all the historic sights. There are some amazing buildings!
I had views to France, Germany and Italy from Jungfraujoch
I spent the last few days of my holiday doing a train trip from Zurich to Bern, Montreux, Interlarken and Luzern. Apart from the amazing scenery all the way round, the highlight had to be heading up Jungfraujoch - the highest railway station in Europe! The weather was amazing and I had views over to France, Italy and Germany.

The week went by very quickly but I saw a lot of Switzerland and definately want to go back sometime.
