After seeing most of Vienna in one day we decided to head out to the hils and see the real Austria. We took a couple of trains to reach the Village of Durnstein, Its a quaint wee village in the Austrian hills. Now this is how we'd pictured Austria. We wandered around the wee village then made the 20min climb to the monastry up on one of the hills. Was a good idea at the time but not so good in the heat! However the views from the top were well worth it -i am sure you will agree. Afterwards it was back to the villlage to sample the local Schnapps before dooking my tired feet in the Danube then running for the train back to Vienna. Great day out. We found a lovely restaurant for dinner. Once again i had WienerSchnitzel.OMG ive never seen such a big schnitzel, It was like a 16inch pizza! Hugemoungous!I made sure i ate every inch of it along witha scrummy pumpkin salad. Pumpkin seems to be the in thing over there.
